A practical guide to robotic pool cleaners for liner pools — with honest trade-offs, best-fit picks, and the specs that matter.
Our shortlist focuses on Dolphin models available with authorized-dealer support. The buying criteria below also give you a useful framework for evaluating alternatives from any brand.
Choosing the right robotic pool cleaners for liner pools comes down to matching the cleaner to your pool, debris, and expectations. We ranked 3 best-fit options and made the trade-offs clear before you compare specifications or price.
Liner pools (vinyl-lined in-ground and above-ground) need cleaners that are gentle on the liner while still thorough. The wrong cleaner can scuff the liner or wear it at seams and the floor-to-wall transition; the right one grips and cleans without abrading.
Dolphin robots use rubber tracks and tuned brushing to clean liners effectively while protecting them — no hard wheels dragging across the surface, and fine filtration to keep liner pools from looking hazy.
Ranked for this specific use case, with the reason each model earned its place—not just a list of specifications.
Our #1 match · Premium
Liner-safe tracks and gentle-but-effective brushing clean thoroughly without abrading; NanoFilters keep liner pools clear.
Our #2 match · Mid
HyperBrush cleans liners well and climbs the smooth walls; strong value and liner-friendly.
Our #3 match · Entry
Purpose-built for above-ground liner pools — gentle, fast, and effective on soft liners.
How we ranked them: We matched filtration, brush system, coverage, debris capacity, automation, and warranty to this page's buying need. Pool fit carries more weight than the longest feature list.
Your pool's interior surface changes which robot cleans best. Delicate liners need gentle tracks and the right brush; hard, textured surfaces like pebble and gunite need aggressive scrubbing to dig grime out of the texture. Matching the robot to your surface protects the finish and gets it genuinely clean.
Textured surfaces (pebble, gunite, exposed aggregate) need firm scrubbing brushes; smooth or delicate surfaces (vinyl, fiberglass) do best with brushes that clean without abrading.
Grip matters on slick fiberglass and smooth tile, while soft rubber tracks or the right wheels protect vinyl liners from wear.
Wall climbing and waterline cleaning keep the tile line and vertical surfaces clean — important on every surface but especially where scale and film build up.
Textured surfaces trap fine grit; NanoFiltration ensures the debris the brushes free is actually captured, not recirculated.
A focused comparison of the models recommended on this page, so irrelevant options do not crowd the decision.
