A practical guide to robotic pool cleaners with waterline cleaning — with honest trade-offs, best-fit picks, and the specs that matter.
Our shortlist focuses on Dolphin models available with authorized-dealer support. The buying criteria below also give you a useful framework for evaluating alternatives from any brand.
Choosing the right robotic pool cleaners with waterline cleaning comes down to matching the cleaner to your pool, debris, and expectations. We ranked 3 best-fit options and made the trade-offs clear before you compare specifications or price.
The waterline is where the ugliest buildup happens — the greasy, scaly ring of sunscreen, oils, pollen, and hard-water scale at the tile line. It's also the most tedious part to scrub by hand. A robot with dedicated waterline cleaning scrubs that band automatically every cycle.
Dolphin models with waterline cleaning climb to the tile line and scrub along it, keeping the ring from ever forming. Below are the models that clean the waterline, not just the floor and walls.
Ranked for this specific use case, with the reason each model earned its place—not just a list of specifications.
Our #1 match · Premium
Waterline cleaning is standard — it scrubs the tile-line ring automatically alongside floor and wall cleaning.
Our #2 match · Premium
Excellent climbing plus waterline scrubbing keep the tile line spotless on tile and premium pools.
Our #3 match · Mid
Active wall climbing with waterline cleaning at the best value.
How we ranked them: We matched filtration, brush system, coverage, debris capacity, automation, and warranty to this page's buying need. Pool fit carries more weight than the longest feature list.
Sometimes you know exactly which feature you're after — a fine NanoFilter for pollen, a weekly timer for hands-off cleaning, Wi-Fi to control it from your phone. Here's which Dolphin models offer each feature, why it matters, and how to choose the right one.
Some features (like NanoFiltration) are standard on ProLine models but optional upgrades on others. Know what's included before you buy.
A weekly timer only helps if you want scheduled cleaning; Wi-Fi matters if you want app control. Match features to your habits, not just the spec sheet.
Premium models bundle several standout features together — often better value than chasing one feature on a lower model plus upgrades.
Advanced features are only worth it with real warranty backing. Buy authorized to keep full coverage.
A focused comparison of the models recommended on this page, so irrelevant options do not crowd the decision.

Straight answers about choosing robotic pool cleaners with waterline cleaning.
It's the ability to climb to the tile line and scrub the band where oils, sunscreen, pollen, and scale collect. This automates the most tedious hand-scrubbing task and prevents the waterline ring from forming.
The Premier, Sigma, and Cayman (among others) include waterline cleaning. They climb the walls and scrub the tile line every cycle.
For most pools, yes — it keeps the tile line clean so the ring never builds up. Heavy mineral scale may still need occasional treatment, but daily film and oils are handled automatically.
